Theotocos Jerusalem
The icon depicts the Virgin Mother holding the Christ Child. This icon
is also attributed to St. Luke and was brought from Jerusalem to Constantinople
in the 5th Century. After his conquest of the city in 988, the icon was
presented to the Great Prince Vladimir during the 9th century. He was
also generous enough to give the icon to the people of Novgorod at the
time of their conversion and baptism.
